A magnitude-3.3 earthquake was recorded shortly before noon Wednesday south of the Mauna Loa summit,according to the U.S. Geological Survey Hawaiian Volcano Observatory.
The earthquake struck at 11:57 a.m. about 3.6 miles south of the summit and 17.4 miles north-northwest of Pahala, according to the observatory. It had a registered depth of 1.6 miles.
The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center did not issue a statement following the temblor.
